If you are planning to appeal your assessment (either in
person or by letter) to the March Board of Review; the
following items should be included:
- Board of Review petition Form L-4035 (link provided below)
- Current Notice of Assessment (Form L-4400) sent by the Assessor
- Your most current Appraisal (most are required for financing and or refinancing)
- Your estimated True Cash Value (Market Value) of the property. (MUST BE
PROVIDED ON PETITION)
- If property is listed for sale or was in the past year; a copy of the listing and/or
advertisement of property for sale
- Photos of buildings (house, barns, mobile homes, garages, etc..)
-Breakdown of land (lake frontage, woods, swamp, tillable land, non-tillable land,
ponds, etc..)
-Square footage of buildings, year built, square footage of accessory buildings.
-Details of buildings and property (i.e. number of bathrooms, septic size, well depth,
municipal sewer/water, foundation information (basement, crawl space, slab, piers),
basement finish, additional fixtures)
The above are typically used in determining the assessments of property. Including
as much information as possible allows the Board of Review to make a thorough
determination in your appeal.
